Florida has one of the highest number of physical therapy assistant schools in the nation, which means Florida is a highly competitive market for this industry when compared to many other States. Florida has a population of close to 19 million inhabitants, and according to latest statistics there is an estimated 3600 physical therapist assistant jobs that are occupied by those with a proper license and training to work in the state. Florida State requires that all physical therapy assistants must have a state license to work, in order to obtain a state license one must obtain an associate degree or diploma from one of the 17 CAPTE accredited physical therapy assistant schools in Florida, which is the prerequisite for then writing a state exam provided by the Florida Board of Physical Therapy.
